Abstract(s)
Introduction: Flexibility is recognized as a motor quality essential for performing motor tasks. One of the most used techniques in physical therapy for maintaining or increasing range of motion, is stretching. Objective: To analyze the effect of Global Postural Reeducation (GPR) protocol on the flexibility of the posterior chain in individuals who don’t perform regular physical activity. Methodology: A sample consisted of 18 females aged between 18 to 28 years old was divided into two groups (experimental and control). In the experimental group, a GPR protocol was applied for 4 weeks, twice a week. Both groups were submitted to an initial and final evaluation, using the 3th finger test to the ground and the “Seat and Reach” test and Flexitest. Results: There were no significant differences between groups in both assessment moments (p=0,081, p=0,268 e p=0,069, respectively). However, the GE improved from the final moment to the final (p = 0.007). Conclusion: GPR did not promote significant gains in posterior chain flexibility.
