Abstract(s)
Dentre as organizações, destacamos a
valores necessários à socialização do indivíduo.
This research aimed at addressing violence as a problem that generates significant impacts and consequences and presents itself in a complex and diversified way in various segments and organizations of society. Among the organizations, we highlight the school, which also lives with different types of violence that affect their daily lives. In Brazil, this has been causing damage to children, adolescents, young people and the technical-pedagogical body, often preventing that institution from exercising its main social function, which is to guarantee the construction of knowledge, skills and values necessary for the socialization of the individual. In the face of this reality, an investigative study was carried out at the Governor Leonel Brizola Municipal School, Elementary School, in the city of São Luís, in the Brazilian state of Maranhão, with the objective of studying the phenomenon of violence and the way it is perceived by community of this institution. Semi-structured questionnaires with a focus on the various forms of violence that can be carried out in the school were applied to students in the 5th grade (age: 10 to 11 years) (n = 15), with their respective parents (n = 15) (n = 3), with pedagogical coordination (n = 1) and school management (n = 1), making up the total sample of 35 participants. To analyze the responses, the SPSS digital statistical package was used. Analysis of the data and the results collected suggest that the participants tend to recognize verbal aggressions more frequently with definers of what would characterize a violent act, and these aggressions are also the ones with the highest incidence in the school studied. In addition, violent acts among students are more frequent. The responses to the questionnaires also suggest a diffuse sense of insecurity, felt by the participants, that affects the interior of the school. Given the complexity of the theme and the limits of the present study, more research is suggested that focuses on violence in public schools, using the same age range used here, to reinforce the findings and help to alleviate the problem, preparing better the new generations for a better society.
