Abstract(s)
This graduation project falls within the scope of the 4th year course taught at the Fernando Pessoa University, of the Faculty of Health Sciences for approval of the respective course and subsequent obtaining the degree of Nursing Licentiate, being “Adherence of Nursing Professionals Health to hand hygiene: impact on the reduction of infections associated with health care ”the chosen theme. Hands are the main route of transmission of microorganisms that cause innumerable infections, mainly associated with health care. IACS are responsible for thousands of deaths worldwide, for increased expenses in the health system and in families, although they are preventable through precautions such as washing your hands correctly at specific times. Nurses as the main caregivers are active drivers of this good practice in their day-to-day lives with other health professionals and patients' companions. The main objective of the investigation is to find in the literature studies that show the adherence of Health Professionals to hand hygiene and what are the factors that interfere in this practice. The methodology used in the study is a narrative review which resulted in the analysis of 5 articles, which seek to respond to the defined objectives. The various studies analyzed show that the adherence of health professionals to the practice of hand hygiene in a constant manner and in the daily routine, is still insufficient and that this has an impact on the reduction of HAIs. Therefore, it is necessary to pay special attention on the part of managers, administrators of health services and trainers to encourage and sensitize the health professional to that issue, taking into account the factors that interfere and that promote the practice.
