Abstract(s)
The present work aims to identify the potentialities of gifted children (specifically those from economically disadvantaged families) attended by the LECCA Institute - children who, although they have guaranteed their educational rights and recognized their school singularities, are invisible in the eyes of the Brazilian education. Located in the city of Rio de Janeiro, this Institute has supported, since its foundation in 2003, the gifted ones in programs developed in the opposite turn of their regular schools. In this work will be presented concepts that are part of the universe of the gifted and talented, as well as the myths of that area. It will also address the programs developed by the Institute, Estrela Dalva and Alexandria, which introduce young people to futures never imagined by them, arousing reflections on the benefits of working with these children and their consequent development for the benefit of mankind.
