Abstract(s)
Interest in the sliding mechanics in orthodontics has been of interest in the study of the frictional forces that occur between the wire and the bracket. This technique is widely used for the closure of interdental spaces, the mechanics of distalization, extrusion, gyroversions, leveling and changes in the shape of the arches. Many factors interfere with the friction of orthodontic appliances, including the method of connecting the wire to the bracket slot. Different bonding methods include the use of elastics, metal wires, and self-ligating brackets that closely incorporate the bond in your design. With the appearance of self-ligating brackets, one of its predominant characteristics would be the reduction of the friction levels between brackets and wires. Thus, achieving an efficient slip with application of reduced forces when comparing the conventional connection brackets, aiming at optimizing patient care time and raising the quality of hygiene.
