Abstract(s)
Objective: Demonstrate the efficacy of a stabilization\strengthening program for core and low back in the intervention of chronic low back pain. Methodology: Computerized search in the databases Pubmed/Medline, PEDro and EBSCO to identify randomized controlled trials that demonstrate or compare the effects of stabilization and strengthening of the core and low back muscles on chronic low back pain. Results: 5 articles were included involving 158 individuals, with a methodological classification of 7,6 on the PEDro scale. From the articles mentioned in this review, 3 compare the effects of core and lumbar stabilization exercises with other types of exercises, 1 compare the effectiveness of the lumbar segmental stabilization exercise in individuals with 3 month pain and healthy individuals, and 1 compare the effectiveness of exercise for strengthening of core in individuals with pain over 12 months and individuals with pain between 3 and 12 months. Conclusion: Both lumbar and core stabilization programs, both strengthening programs in this region result in improved functional capacities, decreased pain, increased lumbar and core strength, and lumbopelvic stability in subjects with chronic non-specific low back pain.
