Abstract(s)
A presente dissertação tem como tema fulcral as expectativas dos millennials
relativamente ao mercado de trabalho e às organizações. Partindo de uma revisão
bibliográfica de conceitos importantes à compreensão do tema e de uma breve análise
de três estudos acerca do tema, procurou-se desenvolver um estudo acerca das
expectativas dos estudantes universitários do concelho do Porto. Estes estudantes
universitários incluem-se na geração millennials, que está a passos largos a entrar no
mercado de trabalho em Portugal e no resto do mundo e as suas mudanças de
comportamento influenciam a sua postura relativamente ao mercado de trabalho e às
organizações. A entrada desta geração está a provocar alterações nas organizações e
empresas, a influenciar ativos de outras gerações e a revolucionar as interações
profissionais e sociais no contexto laboral. A revisão literária contempla conceitos
relacionados com a geração millennials, a inserção dos jovens no mercado de trabalho e
gestão de pessoas.
Com o objetivo de esclarecer determinados aspetos acerca dos millennials em
Portugal, foi aplicado um questionário a uma amostra de estudantes do ensino superior
do concelho do Porto, sendo uma pesquisa quantitativa descritiva. Como principais
conclusões desta pesquisa podemos apontar a preferência dos millennials pelo setor
privado, em detrimento do setor público, confirmar que existe uma procura por pacotes
de benefícios e outras regalias que não o retorno financeiro. Revelou que estamos
perante uma geração com grandes preocupações no que toca à responsabilidade social,
sendo um dos valores que mais procuram nas organizações, no entanto os salários
atrativos continuam a ser um ponto importante.
The present dissertation focuses on the expectations of the millennials regarding the job market and organizations. Starting with a review of literature of important concepts to understand the of subjects in question, but also from a brief analysis of three studies about the same matter, we also aim to develop a study on expectations of the college students in Oporto district. These college students are integrated in the millennial generation, who is currently entering the job market in Portugal and abroad, with different behaviour and posture towards the job market and organizations themselves. The arrival of this generation in the job market is causing major alterations in organizations and companies, causing affecting other generation’s assets and revolutionizing the professional and social interactions at the workplace. The literature review includes concepts related to the millennial generation, the inclusion of young people in the job market and also about people management. With the goal of clarifying about certain aspects of the millennials in Portugal, a survey was applied to a sample of college students in Oporto, which can be described as a descriptive and quantitative research. The major conclusions of this research include millennials preference for the private sector, to the detriment of the public sector, the confirmation of an increasing demand for fringe benefits rather than the financial outcome. It revealed a generation with huge social responsibility awareness, this being one of the most wanted values in an organization for them, nevertheless, attractive salaries are still a central point.
