A relação entre ortodontia e estética facial tem sido amplamente explorada. O alinhamento dos dentes e a correção de más oclusões têm um impacto significativo na harmonia facial e na percepção estética. Através do uso de aparelhos ortodônticos é possível corrigir imperfeições dentárias e melhorar a simetria facial. Além disso, o tratamento ortodôntico pode influenciar positivamente a auto-estima e a confiança do paciente, refletindo-se em uma aparência facial mais agradável.
A revisão narrativa proposta neste trabalho é relevante para compreender as relações entre estética facial e ortodontia, bem como os aspectos clínicos envolvidos nos tratamentos ortodônticos voltados para o harmonização orofacial. A análise desses estudos permite identificar tendências e oportunidades para futuras pesquisas e práticas clínicas na área. Este trabalho tem por objectivo analisar as interações entre a estética facial e a ortodontia.
Para responder a este objetivo foi realizada uma pesquisa bibliografia nas bases de dados pubmed e googlescholar com seguintes palavras: “Orthodontics” and “Facial Aesthetics”; “Orthodontics” and “Facial Rejuvenation”.
Foi demonstrado que a ortodontia, quando aplicada corretamente, coadjuvada de exames diagnósticos específicos, e em associação com outras disciplinas (ex. cirurgia maxilo-facial) pode dar resultados positivos na melhoria da harmonia do rosto, e consegue melhorar problemas quais as assimetrias faciais.
The relationship between orthodontics and facial aesthetics has been extensively explored. The alignment of teeth and the correction of malocclusions have a significant impact on facial harmony and aesthetic perception. Through the use of orthodontic appliances, it is possible to correct dental imperfections and enhance facial symmetry. Furthermore, orthodontic treatment can positively influence the patient's self-esteem and confidence, resulting in a more pleasing facial appearance. The narrative review proposed in this work is relevant for understanding the connections between facial aesthetics and orthodontics, as well as the clinical aspects involved in orthodontic treatments aimed at orofacial harmonization. The analysis of these studies allows for the identification of trends and opportunities for future research and clinical practices in the field. This work aims to analyze the interactions between facial aesthetics and orthodontics. To address this objective, a literature search was conducted in the PubMed and Google Scholar databases using the following keywords: "Orthodontics" and "Facial Aesthetics"; "Orthodontics" and "Facial Rejuvenation." It was demonstrated that orthodontics, when applied correctly, supported by specific diagnostic examinations and in conjunction with other disciplines (e.g., maxillofacial surgery), can yield positive results in improving facial harmony and addressing issues such as facial asymmetries.
