This document presents research conducted as part of a final (thesis is usually is for PhD) graduation project, a requirement for obtaining a Bachelor’s degree in Business Sciences from Fernando Pessoa University. This study aims to understand that, due to the rapid growth of e-commerce and the globalization of supply chains, the retail sectors have been undergoing transformation, requiring organizations to effectively transition from their traditional logistics models to strategies more focused on the omnichannel approach. The company Zara (fashion retail), owned by the Inditex group, will thus be used as the subject of study. Based on a methodology that combines a literature review with a careful analysis of various case studies, this research investigates the pillars that underpin the agility of Zara’s supply chain (Agile Supply Chain), with particular attention to its proximity production model and just-in-time operational philosophy. Furthermore, the central role of technological integration through radio-frequency identification (RFID) systems in unifying physical and digital inventories will be examined. This study demonstrates that Zara’s logistical efficiency does not depend solely on speed, but rather on its efficiency in implementing an omnichannel strategy. In short, the model used by Zara shapes the future of retail, highlighting that the longevity of brands is directly linked to the flexibility of its operations and the economic viability of fast and efficient logistics.
