Abstract(s)
Introduction: Patellofemoral pain syndrome (PFPS) is defined as anterior knee pain that worsens with activity. The taping is usually used as a treatment for PFPS. The patellar taping technique aims to correct the joint kinematics, reduce pain and inhibit muscle contraction. Objective: evaluate the effectiveness of the taping technique in the reduction of pain in the individuals with PFPS. Methods: the research was carried through in 4 databases, Pubmed, B-on, PEDro and ScienceDirect, over the past 10 years (2004-2014). Results: From the above mentioned databases, a set of 17 articles resulted, being excluded 2 and removed the duplicates, in accordance with the objectives and including criteria. Remainig 7 articles were analyzed. Conclusion: this revision concluded that taping is efficient in the treatment of pain in the patellofemoral pain syndrome, allowing these patients to carry out their daly life activities without pain. The addition of an exercise plan to taping, help in the rehabilitation of this syndrome.
