Abstract(s)
Of Science: (“Radial Shock Wave Therapy” OR “Shock Wave Therapy” OR “Extracorporeal Shock Wave Therapy”) AND (“Tennis Elbow” OR “Lateral Epicondylitis” OR “Lateral Humeral Epicondylitis”).
Aim: To verify the effectiveness of radial shock wave therapy (RSW) in the treatment of lateral epicondylitis (LE), in terms of pain and functionality. Methodology: A computerized search was performed using the following combination of keywords in the PubMed/Medline and Web Of Science databases: (“Radial Shock Wave Therapy” OR “Shock Wave Therapy” OR “Extracorporeal Shock Wave Therapy”) AND (“Tennis Elbow” OR “Lateral Epicondylitis” OR “Lateral Humeral Epicondylitis”). In the PEDro database only 2 keywords of each term were combined in each search. Results: This review includes 5 studies, which all them fulfilled eligibility criteria, and which have a total of 218 participants, as well as an arithmetic mean of 6.8/10 on the PEDro scale. Conclusion: The RSW technique has positive effects in the treatment of LE, in terms of pain and functionality.
