Abstract(s)
Background: The rotator cuff tendinopathy is a major cause of shoulder pain, which your treatment involves a lot of times the use of ultrasound although the evidence does not fully support the use of ultrasound for rotator cuff tendinopathy. Objectives: Look for evidences about the effectiveness of the use of ultrasound for rotator cuff tendinopathy. Methodology: It was realized a research using the keywords: “rotator cuff”, “tendinopathy”, “physiotherapy” and “ultrasound”. The research was made in databases: B-on, EBSCO, PubMed and PEDro. Results: It was included 5 studies, with a total of 200 participants. Three studies obtained results statistically positives about the effectiveness of the ultrasound in pain reduction and increase the function, which study compared the ultrasound and deep friction and the other two studies compared the ultrasound with laser. Other two studies obtained results statistically negatives, which one study compared the ultrasound with laser and another study compared the ultrasound with deep friction. Conclusion: More studies are needed for the validity of the effectiveness of the ultrasound for rotator cuff tendinopathy.
