Abstract(s)
Introduction: Congenital muscular torticollis can be affected by a neck deformity caused mainly by trauma of the sternocleidomastoid muscle being detected at birth or shortly after birth. Streching is one of the treatment methods most used in physiotherapy in the treatment of congenital muscular torticollis, improving the extensibility of the sternocleidomastoid muscle, which can be used as a risk of referral for surgery. Objective: to verify the effectiveness of stretching in the treatment of babies with congenital muscular torticollis. Methodology: The research was conducted in the database/search engine Pubmed, Scielo, B-on, Web of Knowledge and PEDro including randomized controlled studies; cohort studies; performed on humans; English and Portuguese language; babies aged 0 to 6 months; babies for physical therapy treatment; the intervention must contain only Physiotherapy techniques. Results: 1113 articles were found, and 5 were included, according to the inclusion criteria. Conclusion: After carrying out this study and in relation to the proposed objective, it was possible to observe that the stretching was effective in the treatment of Congenital Muscular Torticollis.
