Abstract(s)
Objective: The objective of the present study was to verify the effect of the cupping therapy technique in the promotion of hamstrings muscles flexibility of the of soccer players. Methodology: The sample of the study was of convenience, having been constituted by 22 soccer players. The sample was randomly divided into two groups: one control (GC) and one experimental (GE) group. The dominant and non-dominant limb of each athlete was established through a limb dominance test and then the flexibility assessment was performed on both groups with the 90/90 test. Both groups were assessed at baseline and after 3 weeks. At GE, 2 weekly sessions of cupping therapy were applied. The GC did not undergo any intervention. Results: There wasn’t an increase in flexibility of the hamstring muscles in the experimental group in relation to the control group. No differences were found between dominant and non-dominant members. Conclusion: Cupping therapy does not increase the flexibility of the hamstring muscles in soccer athletes.
