Abstract(s)
Objective: To understand the effectiveness of therapeutical exercise on pain and functionof subjects with patellofemoral pain syndrome. Methodology: Computerized research on databases PubMed, EBSCO and PEDro, in order to indentify the controlled randomized studies that evaluated the effects of therapeutical exercise in patients with patellofemoral pain syndrome. Results: This review included 9 articles involving 495 subjects, with methodological classification of 6,93 in PEDro scale. Among the articles mentioned in this review, 5 refer to the implementation of hip musculature strengthening exercises, 2 approach the effects of closed-kinetic chain exercises on the bench press, 1 connects PNF strength training with aerobical exercises comparing to classical stretching, 1 compares the benefits between arthroscopy and exercise, and 1 evaluates the effectiveness of electromyographic biofeedback. Conclusion: Therapeutical exercise has an importante role on the improvement of pain and function of subjects with PFPS.
