A criação da Polícia Municipal, como uma Polícia de natureza administrativa, teve como objetivo a cooperação na manutenção da tranquilidade pública e na proteção das comunidades locais e a cooperação entre as Polícias Municipais e as Forças de Segurança. Porém está relação tem gerado algum erro de perceção pelos munícipes na atribuição que lhe estão conferidas. O objetivo da investigação é compreender quais as representações sociais que os munícipes da Maia, detém em relação ao Serviço da Polícia Municipal da Maia na realização das suas funções e competências. Utiliza-se método de investigação quantitativa, com recurso ao inquérito por questionário. Espera-se que os resultados obtidos vão de encontro com a literatura e que permitam desconstruir crenças eventualmente identificadas relativamente ao Serviço de Polícia Municipal da Maia.
The establishment of the Municipal Police as an administrative-type police force aimed at cooperating in maintaining public peace and in protecting local communities, as well as fostering collaboration between the Municipal Police and Security Forces. However, this relationship has led to some misconceptions by the communities regarding the roles assigned to them. The objective of the research is to understand the social representations that the residents of Maia have concerning the Maia Municipal Police Service in performing its duties and competencies. A quantitative research method is used, utilizing a questionnaire survey. It is hoped that the results obtained will align with the literature and allow for the deconstruction of any beliefs possibly identified regarding the Maia Municipal Police Service.
