Abstract(s)
Objective: this review aimed to understand the effect of exercise therapy on rehabilitation of meniscal injury after meniscectomy. Methodology: a computerized search was performed in the Pubmed/Medline and B-on databases. The defined inclusion criteria were: the type and duration of the intervention protocol, studies that were randomized, studies using exercise therapy as a form of rehabilitation treatment in meniscal injuries, studies comparing the use of exercise therapy with not to use it. The exclusion criteria defined were: studies in which the full text was not available, animal studies, studies that were not in English. Results: 6 randomized controlled trials were included. Of these 6 studies, 6 studies performed subjective evaluations such as pain and knee function, 5 assessed physical and functional performance, 2 assessed range of motion, perimetry and gait, and 4 assessed muscle strength. Conclusion: we can conclude that the exercise therapy seems to be effective in the rehabilitation of meniscal injury after a meniscectomy, in parameters such as the relief of knee pain felt by the patient, physical and functional performance, muscular strength gain and overall gait improvement.
