O processo de revitalização urbana de uma área degradada implica uma procura
e um estudo de contextualização das necessidades e das expectativas que incidem sobre
o território e ditam o nível de intervenção. O seu planeamento encontra várias formas de
ação sobre o território, dependentes do grau de alteração da estrutura do tecido edificado
existente.
Encontrar a forma adequada, a partir do conhecimento de que “(…) no
urbanismo não é possível recorrer a ensaios de laboratório – experimenta-se e cria-se
sobre o real (…)” (Pardal et al., 2000, p.15), requer um trabalho de pesquisa e de
análise das experiências relacionáveis que, no nosso ponto de vista, quanto mais
profundo, maiores serão as possibilidades de sucesso. Para os locais onde o nível de
obsolescência conduziu à área degradada e quando exista o interesse e vontade em
proceder ao processo de revitalização urbana, a reestruturação urbana é uma forma de
intervir no território que altera profundamente a estrutura existente, acrescenta
infraestruturas e unifica o antigo com o novo.
Neste trabalho, fez-se o caminho da procura dos aspetos que influenciam o
ambiente termal, na perspetiva de se apontar uma possibilidade de intervenção urbana
no Lugar do Banho, pequeno aldeamento onde se localizam as termas de Alcafache,
através da reestruturação urbana no processo de revitalização do local.
The urban revitalization in a degraded area is a study and research process in which the contextualization of its needs and expectations is what dictates the intervention level. Its planning acts on the territory in several ways, which are dependent on the pre-existing built structure’s modification level. Finding the proper way – acknowledging that, as Pardal et al. (2000, p.15) put it, in urbanism, one can’t just use laboratory rehearsal, one must experiment and create on the reality – requires an analysis and research work about the relatable experiences that, in our point of view, is more likely to have success the deepest it gets to be. In places where the level of obsolescence has led to its degradation and in which there is a will and an interest to proceed to the urban revitalization, the urban re-structuring is a way of intervening in the territory that deeply modifies the pre-existing structure, adding infrastructures and unifying the old and the new. In this research, an attempt was made to look for the aspects that influence the thermal environment/surroundings, with the objective of suggesting a possible urban intervention in Lugar do Banho, a small village where the Alcafache Thermae are located, through the urban re-structuring in the revitalization process of the site.
