Abstract(s)
Introduction: Nowadays, the search for the ideal body is related to internal dissatisfactions that generate low self-esteem. In the last decades, the body was undervalued; today, it is overvalued and has become a valuable good. Is estimated that this problem affects 85% of women above the age of 20. Objective: To verify the effectiveness of some devices and/or techniques commonly used in physiotherapy and/or dermato-functional physiotherapy for the reduction of fibro edema. Methodology: Research conducted between November and December 2019 with key expressions in Medical Literature Analysis and Retrieval System Online (MedLine/PubMed), PEDro e CINAHL Plus® with Full Text, databases, to identify/select randomized controlled trials published in the last 6 years and experimental studies published in 2019 with follow-up equal to or greater than 3 months that addressed the efficacy of the various treatments presented for the reduction of gynoid lipodystrophy. Results: This review included 4 randomized controlled trials and 1 experimental trial with a 3-month follow-up. Conclusion: Although the study protocols address different therapies, making it difficult to conclude which is the best option for a more effective treatment, they show a consensual minimum to moderate improvement in the aspect of the FEG, significantly decreasing its degree.
