As
Positive psychology interventions applied in both clinical and nonclinical samples have demonstrated a proven efficacy to increase positive emotions, well-being, and life satisfaction. The last decade have seen a growing interest in the study of positive psychology interventions, wordlwide, however in Portugal there are only a few studies regarding positive psychology interventions. Due to its efficacy and easy feasibility, the use of positive psychological interventions may be considered as a complementary strategy in mental health promotion and treatment. The objective of the present study was to analyze the perceptions and the impact that the application of a program of positive psychology, aiming at the promotion of well-being in daily life, produced in students of higher education. A total of 12, from the third year class of the Psychology course in a university in the north of the country, participated in this study. Over 6 weeks, participants assessed the sessions they attended, as well as the program. The results were analyzed qualitatively through content analysis and presented accordingly to the frequencies of the resulting categories. Intra-session activities, positive group interaction, sharing and reflection were the most frequently mentioned categories in the responses given over the course of the program as the most appreciated elements. The participants consider that the achieved learning promoted a change mainly in the way of thinking, concretely changing the perceptions to a more positive focus. This indicates that the program has contributed to the learning of strategies for the promotion of well-being.
