The articles demonstrate the significant contribution of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in endodontics, with an emphasis on the use of 3D imaging. These studies highlight how AI is advancing diagnostic and treatment processes in endodontics, increasing both accuracy and efficiency. AI, particularly through the use of convolutional neural networks (CNNs), is being primarily explored in 3D radiographs used in endodontics. The articles emphasize applications such as the automated detection of periapical lesions, the assessment of root canal morphology, and the precise segmentation of teeth and pulp. This technology has enabled accurate diagnoses and personalized treatment plans. The integration of AI into clinical workflows promises to reduce errors, provide real-time feedback during procedures, and improve treatment outcomes. The articles also mention the future potential of AI in photorealistic 3D reconstructions and endodontic robotics. The aim of this study is to review the current scientific evidence on the use of 3D radiography supported by Artificial Intelligence (AI) as a tool for diagnosis and treatment in endodontic practice, through an integrative narrative review. This study will be conducted using the PRISMA guidelines to ensure appropriate selection, considering criteria such as eligibility, information sources, study selection, data collection process, and inclusion and exclusion criteria. Specifically, articles published before 2018 and those that do not sufficiently address the use of AI in combination with 3D radiography will be excluded. Furthermore, only articles published in Portuguese and English between 2018 and 2024 will be included, sourced from platforms such as PubMed, Web of Science, among others, using keywords such as: 3D radiography in endodontics, Artificial Intelligence in endodontics, photorealistic 3D reconstructions, and endodontic robotics. After the search, a comparative analysis of the selected studies will be carried out, discussing conclusions regarding the effectiveness of AI combined with 3D radiography in improving outcomes in endodontic treatment.
