Abstract(s)
OR "myofascial release therapy" OR "MFR" OR” foam roller”) AND ("flexibility").
Myofascial release (MFR) using a foam roller (FR) is a technique commonly used by many athletes and patients to facilitate recovery and prevent injuries. Objective: To verify the effectiveness of the MFR, with FR, on the flexibility of the hamstring’s muscles. Methodology: To formulate the research topic, the PICO (Patient Intervention Comparison Outcome) method was used. A computerized search in PubMed, Cochrane CENTRAL, Web of Science and PEDro databases was performed using the combination of keywords: ("myofascial release" OR "myofascial release therapy" OR "MFR" OR" foam roller") AND ("flexibility"). The PEDro used the following combination of keywords: ("myofascial release"/"myofascial release therapy"/"MFR"/"foam roller") /("flexibility"). Methodological quality was analysed using the PEDro Physiotherapy Evidence Database Scoring Scale. Results: Six studies were included with a mean PEDro rating of 5.83, with a total of 167 participants. Conclusion: The MFR technique with FR seems to have a positive influence on the flexibility of the hamstring’s muscles.
