Muito embora se verifique, de forma pontual, outras problemáticas na liderança de sinalizações às Comissões de Proteção de Crianças e Jovens (CPCJ’s) em todo o território nacional, a negligência tem assumido, ao longo dos anos, uma posição de elevada preocupação em contexto de maus-tratos sinalizados.
A negligência parental traduz-se na omissão por parte dos progenitores ou cuidadores, em prestar, de um modo geral, os cuidados necessários às crianças. Desta forma, e de modo a tentar perceber-se a magnitude da problemática, o trabalho debruçar-se-á especificamente sobre esta questão, e tem como objetivo propor um estudo descritivo e exploratório sobre a descrição das caraterísticas do fenómeno da negligência parental na infância, do ponto de visto dos profissionais da CPCJ responsáveis pela zona Oriental do Porto, através da administração de um questionário.
Although there are, occasionally, other problems in the lead of reports to Comissão de Proteção de Crianças e Jovens (CPCJ's) throughout the country, neglect has assumed, over the years, a position of high concern in the context of mistreatment reported. In general, parental neglect is the failure of parents or caregivers to provide the necessary care for children. In this way, and in order to try to understand the magnitude of the problem, this paper will focus specifically on this issue, and aims to propose a descriptive and exploratory study on the description of the characteristics of the phenomenon of parental negligence in childhood, from the point of view of CPCJ professionals responsible for the Eastern area of Porto, through the administration of a questionnaire.
