| dc.description.abstract | As preparações radiofarmacêuticas são um grupo de medicamentos que apresenta como principal característica a presença de subtâncias radioativas. São utilizadas na Medicina Nuclear tanto para diagnóstico como para terapia de diversas doenças. Quando se pretende que sejam usados em diagnóstico, aproveita-se o facto de poderem ser detetados à distância; quando a finalidade é a terapêutica, os radiofármacos são úteis, no sentido em que, a radiação tem efeito nocivo sobre um tecido ou órgão. Por se tratarem de compostos radioativos são administrados em baixas quantidades e exigem legislação e manipulação diferente à estipulada para os medicamentos convencionais. Deste modo, as técnicas de Medicina Nuclear permitem avaliar a função e a morfologia do órgão de modo não invasivo. Os radiofármacos mais usados são os de Tecnécio-99m. Podem ser usados no diagnóstico clínico em situações que afetam órgãos como a tiróide, o cérebro, o coração, o rim, o pulmão ou até estruturas ósseas ou componentes hematológicos. A presente dissertação apresenta uma abordagem geral dos radiofármacos usados no diagnóstico de doenças que afetam o sistema renal, tendo especial destaque os radiofármacos tecneciados. | pt_PT |
| dc.description.abstract | The radiopharmaceuticals are a group of medicines whose main characteristic is the presence of radioactive substances. They are used in the Nuclear Medicine either for the clinical diagnosis or the therapy of a wide range of diseases. When they are meant for diagnosing, its remote detection is the most important advantage; on the other hand while meant for therapy, the radiopharmaceuticals are useful for the adverse effects of radiation on the human tissues or organs. As they are radioactive composite they should be administered in low quantities and its prescription and manipulation are regulated by special legislation which differs from that applied to conventional medicines. Therefore, the techniques of the Nuclear Medicine have to allow the non-invasive evaluation of the function and morphology of the considered organs. The most used radiopharmaceuticals belong to technetium-99m group. They can be used in clinical diagnosis that involves organs such as the thyroid, the brain, the heart, the kidney, the lung or even the bone structure and the hematologic components. This dissertation introduces a general approach to the radiopharmaceuticals that are used in the clinical diagnosis of diseases that affect the renal system, especially the technecium radiopharmaceuticals. | pt_PT |
