  • Necessidades e preocupações das famílias de crianças com alterações de linguagem em intervenção precoce

    Este estudo teve como principal objectivo a identificação de necessidades e preocupações de 25 famílias de crianças, com idades compreendidas entre os 2 anos e os 5 anos e 11 meses, com alterações de linguagem, a serem apoiadas em programas de Intervenção Precoce. Os dados revelam, numa análise geral, maiores necessidades de informação: sobre o diagnóstico clínico da criança; os serviços e apoios gerais e os serviços em Terapia da fala; o desenvolvimento da linguagem na criança; como explicar a amigos, vizinhos e desconhecidos o problema do filho; como manter contacto com outras famílias na mesma situação. Numa análise mais específica, de comparação entre 7 famílias a iniciar apoio e 7 famílias em fase avançada nos serviços de IP, foi possível observar diminuição das necessidades em geral e aumento de informação após 2 a 3 anos de acompanhamento. Esta análise revelou o aparecimento de novas necessidades, associadas à entrada no 1º ciclo e à incerteza sobre o futuro destas crianças. Twenty-five families with children between 2 and 5 years 11 months with language disorders participated in this study. These families were supported by Early Intervention programs. The results were that, in general, there was lack of information concerning: the medical diagnosis of the child; the services and general support of Speech Therapy services; the development of the child`s speech; how to explain to friends, neighbours and other people the child`s problem; how to keep in touch with other families in the same situation. There has been an observation and comparison of seven families that just started support and seven other families that have been supported by the Early Intervention services for a longer period of time. The results show that after two to three years there has been a reduction of difficulties and an increase in information. This study revealed other needs, previously unknown, related to the admission to the elementary school and uncertainty about the children`s future.
