The 2nd series of Seminars in Biopathology occurred in Universidade Fernando Pessoa, between January 9th and 12th of March, and the objective was to present the multiple approaches of the scientific research in Portugal in areas like stem cells, cancer, infectious disease and others.
- A função da tiróide: relação com o colesterol e glicose num meio hospitalarPublication . Guimarães, Susana; Castro, Ana RitaDentro das endocrinopatias, as doenças da tiróide são actualmente muito frequentes (Jorge et al, 2005). Neste trabalho estudou-se a relação da tiroxina com o colesterol e a glicose, numa amostra hospitalar. Verificou-se que uma fracção considerável de indivíduos da amostra sofria de hipotiroidismo. Este estudo sugere ainda, que o colesterol total diminui em função do aumento da tiroxina livre e, pelo contrário, a glicose aumenta em função do aumento da tiroxina livre. Of all the endocrinopathies, thyroid diseases are nowadays very common (Jorge et al, 2005). In this work it was studied the relationship between thyroxin, cholesterol and glucose, in a hospitalar environment. It was observed that a considerable percentage of individuals had hypothyroidism. This study also suggests that cholesterol decreases with the increase of free thyroxine and, in contrast, the glucose increases with the increase of free thyroxine.
