Para além do sistema imunológico, a microbiota comensal do corpo Humano é essencial
para proteger o organismo de agentes patogénicos, aos quais estão associadas diversas
patologias. No entanto, por vezes não são suficientes para impedir a disseminação e
persistência dos agentes patogénicos, originando infeções como amigdalites. Os
principais agentes responsáveis pelas amigdalites são os vírus, no entanto existem certas
bactérias que podem igualmente causar esta infeção, em especial Streptococcus pyogenes.
Um correto diagnóstico e tratamento é essencial para diminuir o risco de complicações,
mas também de resistências aos antibióticos.
In addition to the immune system, the commensal microbiota of the Human body is essential to protect the organism from pathogens, to which several pathologies are associated. However, sometimes they are not enough to prevent the spread and persistence of pathogens, causing infections such as tonsillitis. The main agents responsible for tonsillitis are viruses, however there are certain bacteria that can also cause this infection, especially Streptococcus pyogenes. Correct diagnosis and treatment is essential to reduce the risk of complications, but also of resistance to antibiotics.
