Motivação para a dádiva de células de medula óssea: o papel do psicólogo

Abstract

Neste estudo procurou-se perceber de que modo se poderiam juntar uma ação, atitude e comportamento na forma de uma motivação para uma dádiva (neste caso, de células de Medula Óssea) com um interveniente neste processo de prevenção, orientação, promoção e informação que é o Psicólogo. Desta forma, procurou-se compreender a importância do papel do Psicólogo no contexto das organizações de sangue e transplantação ao nível dos conhecimentos, atitudes, opiniões e motivações. Os objetivos específicos tiveram como foco caracterizar a amostra quanto ao nível de conhecimento, atitudes, opiniões e motivações para a dádiva de células de medula óssea e verificar se existem diferenças significativas entre os conhecimentos, atitudes, opiniões e motivações e as variáveis sociodemográficas e clínicas da amostra. A recolha dos dados foi realizada no Instituto Português do Sangue e da Transplantação. Participaram no estudo 157 potenciais dadores de células de Medula Óssea, 83 do sexo masculino e 74 do sexo feminino, com idades compreendidas entre os 18 anos e os 45 anos. Os resultados evidenciam que o Psicólogo representa um papel importante na informação e tomada de decisão quanto à doação de células de medula óssea.

This study aimed to understand in which ways actions, attitudes and behaviors are combined to generate motivation for a donation, in this case, of Bone Marrow cells, with an actor in this process of prevention, guidance, promotion and information that is the Psychologist. Therefore, this work intended to understand the importance of the psychologist's role in the context of blood and transplant organizations in terms of knowledge, attitudes, opinions and motivations. The specifics aims were to characterize the sample as to the level of knowledge, attitudes, opinions and motivations for the donation of Bone Marrow cells and to check if there are significant differences between the knowledge, attitudes, opinions and motivations and the sociodemographic and clinical variables samples. Data collection was carried out at the Portuguese Blood and Transplantation Institute. One hundred and fifty seven potential bone marrow cell donors participated in the study, 83 males and 74 females, aged between 18 and 45 years. The results show that the psychologist plays an important role to share information for decision making regarding to donation of bone marrow cells.
