Adesão dos profissionais de saúde ao “ Feixe de Intervenções” de Prevenção de Infeção do Trato Urinário associada ao Cateter Vesical

Abstract

Sumário O estudo realizado intitulado de Adesão dos profissionais de saúde ao “Feixe de Intervenções” de Prevenção de Infeção do Trato Urinário associada ao Cateter Vesical tem como objetivo geral avaliar a conformidade das práticas de prevenção e controlo da infeção pela implementação de um feixe de intervenções. De acordo com o estudo realizado pela Direção Geral de Saúde (DGS), entre as infeções hospitalares mais frequentes podemos encontrar as infeções respiratórias inferiores (29,3%), as infeções urinárias (21,1%) e as infeções do local cirúrgico (18%). Maioritariamente as Infeções do Trato Urinário (ITU) adquiridas em meio hospitalar ocorrem após a cateterização do trato urinário, sendo que de acordo com Center for Diseases Control and Prevention (CDC) aproximadamente 75% são associadas a este procedimento invasivo. Neste estudo, a questão de investigação que desencadeou a problemática foi: “Será que os profissionais de saúde aderem ao Feixe de Intervenções de prevenção de Infeção do Trato Urinário associada ao cateter vesical?”. Tratou-se de um estudo descritivo, transversal e quantitativo. De maneira a dar resposta à problemática em estudo, foi aplicado um questionário a enfermeiros e assistentes operacionais pertencentes ao serviço de Unidade de Longa Duração e Manutenção (ULDM) e Unidade de Média Duração e Reabilitação (UMDR) do Hospital Escola (HE) da Universidade Fernando Pessoa, sendo a amostra composta por um total de 22 enfermeiros e 11 assistentes operacionais. Os resultados do questionário sugerem que a maioria dos enfermeiros demonstra cumprir o “feixe de intervenções” de prevenção de infeção urinária associada a cateter vesical, no entanto uma grande percentagem dos assistentes operacionais dá a entender, pelas respostas obtidas ao longo do questionário, que não sabem onde terminam as suas funções. Summary The study carried out titled Adhesion of Health Professionsals to the “Beam of Interventions” for the Prevention of the Urinary Tract Infection associated to the bladder catheter has the general objective of evaluating the conformity of the practises of the prevention and control of the infection through the implemnentation of a Beam of interventions. According to the studdy carried out by the Regional Health Management (RHM), among the most frequent hospital diseases we can find the inferior respiratory infections (29.3%), the urinary infections (21.1%) and the surgical infections (18%). The urinary tract infections (UTI) acquired in an hospital environment mainly occur after the catheterization of the urinary tract, being that, according to the Centre for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) approximately 75% are associated with this invasive procedure. In this study, the question of investigation that unleashed the problem was, “Do the health professionals adhere to the Beam of Interventions for the Prevention of the Urinary Tract Infection associated with the bladder catheter?” This was a descriptive,transversal and quantitative study. In order to respond to the problems studied, a questionnaire was applied to nurses and operational assistants at the service of the Long Duration and Maintenance Unit (LDMU) and Medium Duration and Rehabilitation Unit (MDRU) of the School Hospital (SH) of the Fernando Pessoa University, the sample composing of a total of 22 nurses and 11 operational assistants. The results of the questionnaire suggest that the majority of the nurses demonstrate compliance with the beam of interventions for the prevention of urinary infections associated with the bladder catheter, however, a big percentage of the operational assistants seem to understand through the responses obtained throughout the questionnaire, that they are unaware of where their duties end.
