Los nuevos movimientos religiosos y las sectas: conceptos, definiciones y situación actual

O pluralismo religioso é actualmente objecto de atenção crescente por
parte da sociedade em geral e sobretudo dos meios de comunicação.
Os chamados “Novos Movimentos Religiosos e/ou Seitas” são
geralmente contrapostos às religiões ancestrais e tidos por estas e por
grande parte da sociedade como algo que quebra a homogeneidade
das ideologias religiosas seculares. Este artigo pretende reflectir sobre
os dois tipos de estruturas religiosas e definir os objectivos que as
norteiam e os perfis dos seus seguidores.
At the moment religious pluralism is the object of growing attention
on the part of society in general and above all the mass media. The
so-called New Religious Movements and/or Sects are usually opposed
to traditional religions and are considered by the latter, as well as by a
great part of the society, as breaking the homogeneity of age-old
religious ideologies. This article considers these two types of religious
organisations and defines the objectives that determine their actions
and beliefs of their followers.
