Abstract(s)
Periodontal regenerative biomaterials are crucial elements in regenerative dentistry. Autologous platelets concentrates are biomaterials derived from patient own blood, these blood concentrates support and facilitate healing process thanks to growth factors and cytokines release after platelets activation. Most recent systematic reviews shed light on efficacy of theses physiologic biomaterials, they demonstrate good results when utilize as monotherapy in intra-bony defects treatment, therefore, when they are added to some others biomaterials or techniques, they do not achieve the same results. More studies are necessary in order to establish common protocol and indications of theses promising biomaterials. The aim of this narrative review is to describe autologous platelets concentrates’ characteristics and to compare their effectiveness in intra-bony defects regeneration, focusing on the outcomes that the combination of this material to gold standards techniques achieve.
