Abstract(s)
The misuse of Emergency Services is a concern through out of the years in a financial level and also in a health professional performance. There are many factors that contribute for this situation, between them is the population mentality, that nowadays still believe this service provide more resources and ease of access which can offer better health care. The proximity of the Emergency services vicinity, the readiness to take the exams and their ease access were the main reasons pointed out for this to be the first service to appeal. There are still many people that don’t have the knowledge about the different departments of primary health care neither 24 hours’ line support. It becomes this way necessary the arrival of information about other health care services, apart from Emergency Services, so it’s possible to teach the population aiming the correct use of these services throughout awareness campaigns. To make it possible to get to know the reasons why people choose between the different health care services, there were made questionnaires to a random sample of population, which is the best methodology. It was concluded that 93,80% of the population has already used the Emergency services for adults at least once, and 26,4% of them got the "Green bracelet" - Less Urgent. It was even possible to understand that only a few 5,43% of this sample was informed (during the screening) that could been attended another health care service (specifically health centre - family doctor) before attending that service. During all this investigation only one person attended to the Emergency service directed from another health service which shows the necessity of spreading information about others health care methods before attending the " Emergency services", to avoid the incorrect use this one.
