Abstract(s)
Endodontics is an area of dental medicine that has the principle of removing the infected dental pulp, followed by meticulous disinfection and subsequent filling, thus allowing adjacent tissues to heal successfully. Endodontic treatment aims to achieve an environment of asepsis, allowing healing of the infection and can be performed in single session or in multiple sessions. With all the variety of procedures that exist today, the application of intracanal medication to assist irrigators in the eradication of bacteria from the root canal system became a subject of controversy among the researchers, since in the studies already carried out, very different results and conclusions were presented. In this context, the objective of this study was to understand if it is more advantageous to perform the treatment in single session or multiple sessions, to understand if the use of intracanalar medication between sessions is indicated and which is more effective.
