Abstract(s)
Violent behaviour, such as murder, has been increasing in the last years in Portugal. This is visible both in the media, that every day presents us with news of this kind of behaviour, as in the increase of cases in the General Directorate of Rehabilitation and Prison Services (GDRPS). However, despite this increase, there are no major studies or even intervention programs focused on this field. In order to meet this need, it’s necessary to address this issue highlighting what the main reasons/risk factors that are in precipitating the murder. It’s hoped, with this study, to determinate the risk areas that stand out so that its prevention is more facilitated in the public politics and to contribut to the scant information that exists abou this fenomenon beside the GDRPS technicians. To achive the presente objectives, a qualitative methodology will be used, through interviews with sentenced individuals of morder, in the years 2014 and 2015, in Porto area. Thus, will be applied an semi-structured interview addressing the concerned issues, to the participants, including the Penal Teams as well as the Prisons of the study area (Porto).
