Abstract(s)
early childhood caries, susceptibility, etiology e host;; Foram estipulados
Objective: The present work of narrative review aims to highlight the factors related to the host that are associated with the etiology of early childhood caries. Methodology: In order to elaborate this revision work, a research of scientific articles was carried out in the databases: B-on, PubMed and Scielo using the following keywords: early childhood caries, susceptibility, etiology and host; Inclusion and exclusion factors were set for the selection of articles, and a total of 25 articles were obtained. Description: Malnutrition during gestation and after birth are associated with the development of defects in the enamel that with the presence of bacterial plaque trigger the development of early childhood caries. Saliva is a form of defense, protection and diagnostic marker. Social class is present in most of the studies, where deficiencies in diet and inadequate oral hygiene habits are highlighted as aggravating factors for the development of early childhood caries.
