Abstract(s)
O objeto deste artigo é o de contribuir para a compreensão do novo cenário da
comunicação científica em Portugal no século XXI e o papel dos repositórios
institucionais nesse processo, salientando os principais constrangimentos das
práticas de depósito a partir do estudo recente que efetuamos sobre os repositórios
institucionais das universidades públicas portuguesas. Principiamos pela
problematização do conceito de «repositório» considerando as teses de autor e
fechando com a nossa formulação. A análise desenvolve-se em torno de um tópico
essencial no estudo das atuais práticas dos repositórios institucionais em acesso
aberto, a relação estabelecida entre os produtores de ciência e os «armazéns de
conhecimento» e os constrangimentos colocados pela atual forma de organização da
ciência nas plataformas. Apontam-se os principais constrangimentos ao autoarquivo,
à disponibilização e ao acesso à informação científica em Portugal. Por fim, estima-se
o grau de adaptação das ciências humanas e sociais ao uso dos repositórios
institucionais.
The purpose of this article is to contribute to understanding the new scenario of the scientific communication in Portugal in the 21st century, and the role of the institutional repositories in that process, highlighting the main constraints of the deposit practices from the recent study that we undertook about the institutional repositories of the Portuguese public universities. We start by questioning the concept of «repository» considering the author thesis and end with the formulation of our thesis. The analysis develops around an essential subject in the study of current practices in the open access institutional repositories, the relationship established between the science producers and the «knowledge databases» and the constraints created by the current way of organizing knowledge in the platforms. We point out the constraints to self-archiving, to the availability and access to scientific information in Portugal. Finally, we estimate the degree of adaptation of the human and social sciences to the use of the institutional repositories.
