Aceitação estética de tratamentos com diamino fluoreto de prata em pacientes pediátricos: investigação

Abstract(s)
Objetivo: Perceber a relevância do conhecimento relativamente ao tratamento com diamino fluoreto de prata na tomada de decisão para aceitar a intervenção; compreender o nível de importância que a estética da sua criança influência os responsáveis na escolha do tratamento e entender se, após ser informado dos benefícios do tratamento, os participantes tomariam decisões diferentes.
Materiais e métodos: Estudo observacional, transversal, com a aplicação de três questionários aos pais das crianças utentes da clínica da Universidade: sociodemográficos dos responsáveis; após observação de imagens contendo crianças tratadas com diamino (antes e depois), e após a explicação das indicações/contraindicações do produto. A investigadora esclareceu perguntas dos participantes e entregou uma ficha explicativa. A amostra foi constituída por 36 participantes. Os dados foram analisados através do software estatístico IBM SPSS.
Resultados: Verificou-se que 97,2% acharam “importante” ou “muito importante” tratar os dentes temporários. Após a explicação sobre o diamino 61,1% dos responsáveis, optariam pelo tratamento mesmo cientes do comprometimento estético, para evitar uma situação de sedação ou anestesia geral. Observou-se que a seguir à explicação das informações sobre o diamino, 66,7% dos pais autorizariam o tratamento em dentes posteriores, resultando em uma mudança de opinião em 50 % dos casos, com significância estatística (p=0,001).
Conclusões: A coloração nos dentes posteriores é mais aceitável para os pais, do que comparado com manchas nos dentes anteriores. Apesar da resistência, a maioria dos pais acham que o diamino fluoreto de prata é um tratamento mais rápido e menos invasivo, não valorizando a estética em casos em que não exista a cooperação da criança, principalmente em dentes posteriores.
Objective: Understand the relevance of knowledge regarding the treatment with diamine silver fluoride, in the decision-making to accept the intervention; understand the level of importance that the aesthetics of your child influence those responsible for choosing the treatment and understand whether after being informed of the benefits of treatment, participants would make different decisions. Materials and methods: Observational, cross-sectional study, with the application of three questionnaires to the parents of children users of the clinic of the University: sociodemographic of those responsible; after observing images containing children treated with diamine (before and after) and after the explanation of the indications/contraindications of the product. The researcher clarified questions from the participants and gave an explanatory form. The sample consisted of 36 participants. Data were analyzed using IBM SPSS statistical software. Results: It was found that 97.2% found it "important" or "very important" to treat temporary teeth. After the explanation about the diamine 61.1% of those responsible, they would choose the treatment even aware of the aesthetic impairment, to avoid a situation of sedation or general anesthesia. It was observed that after the explanation of the information about the diamine, 66.7% of the parents would authorize the treatment in posterior teeth, resulting in a change of opinion in 50% of the cases, with statistical significance (p=0.001). Conclusions: Staining on the posterior teeth is more acceptable for parents than compared to stains on the anterior teeth. Despite the resistance, most parents think that diamine silver fluoride is a faster and less invasive treatment, not valuing aesthetics in cases where there is no child cooperation, mainly in posterior teeth.
