Objetivo: Verificar efeitos da fisioterapia respiratória na função pulmonar e qualidade de vida em pacientes obesos no pré e pós-operatório de cirurgia bariátrica. Metodologia: Esta revisão bibliográfica foi conduzida em 4 bases de dados Pubmed, Web of Science, Scopus e PEDro, em maio de 2023 para identificar estudos randomizados controlados que analisassem efeitos de diferentes intervenções de fisioterapia respiratória entre grupo experimental (GE) e grupo controlo (GC), de acordo com as guidelines PRISMA. A qualidade metodológica foi avaliada através da escala Physiotherapy Evidence Database (PEDro). Resultados: Dez artigos cumpriram os critérios de elegibilidade e foram incluídos na revisão. Os estudos selecionados tiveram qualidade metodológica de 6,9/10 na escala PEDro e comtemplou 487 participantes. Todos os artigos demonstraram benefícios da fisioterapia respiratória nos pacientes submetidos a cirurgia, tendo o GE melhor função pulmonar, força respiratória e qualidade de vida, bem como menor prevalência de complicações pulmonares em relação ao GC. Conclusão: A fisioterapia respiratória parece fundamental na pré e pós cirurgia bariátrica, apresentando benefícios na função pulmonar, força, endurance muscular, qualidade de vida e na prevenção de complicações pulmonares.

Methodology: This review was conducted in 4 databases PubMed, Web of Science, Scopus, and PEDro in May 2023 to identify randomised controlled trials analysing the effects of different respiratory physiotherapy interventions between an experimental group (GE) and a control group (GC), according PRISMA guidelines. Methodological quality was assessed using the Physiotherapy Evidence Database (PEDro) scale. Results: Ten articles fulfilled the elegibility criteria and were included. The selected studies had a methodological quality of 6.9/10 on PEDro scale and included 487 participants. All articles demonstrated benefits in respiratory physiotherapy intervention in surgical patients, with the GE showing improved lung function, respiratory strength, and quality of life, as well as a lower prevalence of pulmonary complications compared to the CG. Conclusion: Respiratory physiotherapy seems essential in pre and post bariatric surgery, providing benefits in lung function, muscular strength, endurance, quality of life and prevention of pulmonary complications.
