Este projeto de graduação, intitulado de “Crianças Expostas à Violência Doméstica: Consequências e Intervenção Focada na Parentalidade”, realiza-se numa fase final da licenciatura em Criminologia na Universidade Fernando Pessoa para obtenção do referido grau académico.
A Violência Doméstica é um dos crimes mais registados em Portugal, sendo um crime complexo e que afeta a vítima de várias formas.
Este trabalho apresenta um enquadramento teórico essencial sobre violência doméstica, destacando dinâmicas, tipos de violência e fatores de risco e proteção, com especial enfoque nos impactos sobre crianças e filhos. Em seguida, discute a resposta institucional centrada na criança e na família, sublinhando a importância da articulação entre entidades e da gestão contínua do risco. Na componente empírica, propõe-se um programa breve de capacitação parental, composto por seis sessões presenciais, dinamizadas por uma equipa multidisciplinar, com o objetivo de reforçar competências parentais protetoras e promover um quotidiano mais estável e seguro para as crianças.
Prevê-se que a intervenção contribua para aumentar a consciência sobre o impacto da violência nos filhos, melhorar práticas parentais no dia a dia e fortalecer fatores de proteção no contexto familiar.
This undergraduate project, entitled “Children Exposed to Domestic Violence: Consequences and Parenting-Focused Intervention,” is carried out in the final stage of the Bachelor’s degree in Criminology at Universidade Fernando Pessoa with the aim of obtaining the respective academic degree. Domestic violence is one of the most frequently recorded crimes in Portugal. It is a complex offence that affects victims in multiple ways. This work presents an essential theoretical framework on domestic violence, highlighting its dynamics, types of violence, and risk and protective factors, with a particular focus on the impacts on children. It then discusses the institutional response centred on the child and the family, emphasising the importance of coordination between services and continuous risk management. In the empirical component, a brief parental empowerment programme is proposed, consisting of six in-person sessions delivered by a multidisciplinary team, with the aim of strengthening protective parenting skills and promoting a more stable and safer daily life for children. It is expected that the intervention will help increase awareness of the impact of violence on children, improve everyday parenting practices, and strengthen protective factors within the family context.
