Abstract(s)
Nas sociedades, as crianças e as pessoas mais velhas constituem dois estratos sociais frágeis, com repercussões, entre outros, ao nível da criminologia. A violência contra idosos, mais do que um crime punível pela lei, é um problema humano, de lesa cidadania e, como tal, carece de ser melhor conhecido, para melhor se poder atuar, numa perspetiva punitiva e numa perspetiva antecipatória – ou seja, preventiva. O presente trabalho visa contribuir para estes objetivos, com ênfase na perspetiva do conhecimento. Desta maneira, recorreu-se a um estudo exploratório, de pesquisa de trabalhos académicos envolvendo esta problemática, nos Repositórios Científicos de Acesso Aberto de Portugal (RCAAP), seguida de análise documental, de tipo categorial. Dessa análise percebeu-se que os estudos se focam em múltiplos fatores, mas são coincidentes na perspetiva de que este crime não pode ser encarado apenas de um dos seus ângulos. Ainda que a perspetiva humana nos leve a incidir no ponto de vista social, psicológico, médico, entre outros, quer quanto ao idoso, quer quanto ao perpetrador, o contexto em que este estudo se insere, ou seja, na formação em criminologia, conduz a atenção para esses fatores, mas sempre numa perspetiva holística. Deste modo, ao criminologista compete rodear-se de uma equipa multidisciplinar que possa abordar e dar atenção aos diversos ângulos para um cuidado sistémico do idoso e do criminoso.
In societies, children and the elderly constitute two socially vulnerable groups, with implications, among others, in criminology. Violence against the elderly, more than just a crime punishable by law, is a profound human issue and a breach of citizenship that requires thorough understanding to facilitate effective action, both from punitive and anticipatory — that is, preventive — perspectives. This work aims to contribute to these goals, emphasizing the knowledge aspect. An exploratory study was conducted through academic research on this issue in the Scientific Open Access Repositories of Portugal (RCAAP), followed by a categorical document analysis. This analysis revealed that while studies focus on multiple factors, they agree on the perspective that this crime cannot be viewed from a single angle. Although the human perspective leads us to focus on social, psychological, medical, and other viewpoints regarding both the elderly and the perpetrator, the criminological training context of this study redirects attention to these factors within a holistic framework. Thus, it is the criminologist's responsibility to work within a multidisciplinary team capable of addressing and providing attention to the various angles needed for a systemic approach to the care of both the elderly and the offender.
