Abstract(s)
Aim: to evaluate the effect of the FIFA 11+ program on the strength of the adductor muscle group and the knee SAP of youth football players. Methodology: The sample consisted of 13 football players in the sub-15 and sub-16 levels, randomly divided into two groups (CG: n = 6; EG: n = 7). Only EG was subject to the FIFA 11+ program for 6 weeks, twice a week. To assess the muscular strength of the adductors, the Squeeze Test was performed in the amplitudes of 0º, 30º and 45º of thigh flexion. The knee SAP was evaluated through active repositioning for extension and flexion and for the test range of 45º of knee flexion. Results: There were significant improvements in repositioning errors after intervention in CG in non-dominant limb test (p = 0.046); and EG the dominant (p = 0.028) and non-dominant (p = 0.018) extension test. In the Squeeze test in all test ranges, there were significant improvements in both the CG (p = 0.046) and the GE (p = 0.018). Conclusion: in general, after the intervention, both groups significantly improved the knee SAP, as well as the adductor strength.
