Abstract(s)
Objective: to analyse the influence of the menstrual cycle (MC) in sports performance of soccer athletes. Methods: A research was developed in PubMed and Web of Science databases and search engine B-on. Randomized, cohort and case-control studies were included, from which the study group was female soccer athletes. Study methodological quality was assessed with the Critical Appraisal Skills Programme (CASP). Results: 5 studies were included, which evaluated Maximal Voluntary Isometric Grip Strength, 20-M Sprint, Countermovement Jump, Leg Press, hormonal panel, injury count, FiveJump Test, Repeated Shuttle-Sprint Ability Test, Yo-Yo Intermittent Recovery and Endurance Test, isokinetic evaluation, 3x30 sprints. Conclusion: the relation between hamstrings and quadriceps strength (H/Q), in female soccer athletes, was inferior during the follicular phase, compared to the luteal phase. It is suggested that the maximal resistance is affected by the MC, unlike jump and sprint performance.
