Abstract(s)
The main objective of this review was to show the influence of sucrose consumption during the first days of the child's life, in relation to dental caries. In this context, it made sense to address the concept of early childhood caries, risk factors, diet, frequency of carbohydrate intake, breastfeeding and bottle feeding and later oral hygiene. The methodology used to carry out this work was based on the search of information in online search engines. In the course of this work, it was found that the danger of diet in relation to dental caries is mainly associated with the sucrose content in foods. Sucrose being a crucial dietary factor in the development of dental caries, together with the frequency of intake and the long time it takes in the oral cavity ends up being a decoy for the evolution of the same.
