Impacto do período de confinamento devido ao COVID-19 na saúde oral das crianças: investigação

| dc.description.abstract | Objetivos: Avaliar se o período de confinamento vivido entre os meses março e maio de 2020, influenciou, de algum modo, o cuidado na saúde oral das crianças. Métodos: Foi realizado um questionário online para indivíduos maiores de 18 anos com grau de parentalidade com crianças de idades compreendidas entre os 3 e os 12 anos de idade. As respostas ao questionário foram recolhidas e armazenadas numa base de dados criada a partir do programa ExcelÒ e as análises estatísticas foram realizadas no programa IBM© SPSS© Statistics vs. 26.0 (p=0,05). Resultados: Foram obtidas 169 respostas ao questionário online. 36,7% dos inquiridos afirmaram que o número de escovagens durante o período de confinamento se alterou: 26% dos inquiridos declararam que o número de escovagens diminuiu; 84,6% dos inquiridos responderam afirmativamente à questão: “O seu filho alguma vez foi a uma consulta de Medicina Dentária?” e 38,5% indicaram que levavam as crianças a consulta médico dentária pelo menos uma vez por ano. Conclusão: Existe uma grande preocupação dos pais/responsáveis em cuidar da saúde oral das crianças. Todavia, 26% dos inquiridos respondeu que as escovagens se alteraram, diminuindo, durante o período de confinamento vivido de março a maio de 2020. O presente estudo tinha como objetivo principal perceber se existiu um impacto no cuidado da saúde oral das crianças verificando-se, possivelmente, pela quebra das rotinas diárias habituais. No presente estudo conseguiu-se perceber que os pais procuraram participar ativamente nos cuidados de higiene oral das crianças, o que vem reforçar a ideia inicial desta investigação. | pt_PT |
| dc.description.abstract | Objectives: To assess whether the period of confinement experienced between March and May 2020, somehow influenced the oral health care of children. Methods: An online questionnaire was conducted for individuals over 18 years of age with a parenthood degree with children aged between 3 and 12 years of age. The answers to the questionnaire were stored in a database created using the ExcelÒ and the data analysis used in the study is IBM© SPSS© Statistics vs. 25.0 (p=0.05). Results: 169 responses to the online questionnaire were obtained. 36,7% of respondents said that the number of brushings during the confinement period had changed; 26% of respondents stated that the number of their children’s brushing decreased during the confinement period; 84,6% of respondents answered affirmatively to the question: “Has your child ever been to a dental appointment?” and 38,5% indicated that they took their children to a dental appointment at least once a year. Conclusion: There is a great concern of parents/guardians in taking care of children's oral health. The percentage of children who have had a dental appointment reflects greater sensitivity and attention to oral health. However, 26% of respondents answered that brushings decreased, during the period of confinement lived from March to May 2020. The main objective of the present study was to understand if there was an impact on the oral health care of children, possibly due to the break of the usual daily routine. In this study, it was possible to understand that the parents sought to actively participate in the children's oral hygiene care, which reinforces our initial idea. | pt_PT |
