Abstract(s)
Introduction: Kinesio taping (KT) is a therapeutic strategy commonly used to improve blood and lymph circulation. However, the effects of KT in patients with lymphoedema secondary to breast cancer are still poorly known. Objective: to verify the effects of Kinesio Taping on lymphoedema secondary to breast cancer. Methodology: a search was conducted in the PubMed, PEDro and Web of Science databases in order to identify randomized controlled studies that evaluated the effects of KT on the reduction of lymphedema secondary to breast cancer, and the quality was analyzed using the PEDro scale. Results: six studies with an average PEDro score of 6/10 were included, with a total of 373 women. KT seemed to contribute to reducing the volume and symptoms, increasing shoulder joint range of motion, improving quality of life, comfort, and gaining functionality. Conclusion: although there have been benefits from the application of KT, alone or in combination, other techniques have been shown to be equally or more effective in the treatment of lymphoedema secondary to breast cancer. Further studies are needed to validate the effects of KT on lymphedema.
