A trissomia 21 Ă© uma doença genĂ©tica com uma expressĂŁo importante em Portugal. O seu diagnĂłstico Ă© feito essencialmente em contexto prĂ©-natal sendo complementado pelas caracterĂsticas fenotĂpicas do recĂ©m-nascido.
Clinicamente sĂŁo vĂĄrias as comorbilidades associadas Ă trissomia 21, pelo que a abordagem multidisciplinar Ă© essencial, quer para o doente quer para os cuidadores.
Neste contexto, o trabalho elaborado pretende abordar a trissomia 21 numa perspetiva holĂstica com enfoque no papel do farmacĂȘutico. Este inclui a prĂĄtica de cuidados farmacĂȘuticos dos quais se destacam consulta/indicação farmacĂȘutica, seguimento farmacoterapĂȘutico e educação para a saĂșde.
Trisomy 21 is a genetic disease with an important expression in Portugal. The diagnosis is made primarily on prenatal context being complemented by phenotypic characteristics of the newborn. Clinically there are several co-morbidities associated with trisomy 21, and that makes the multidisciplinary approach essential, both for the patient and for caregivers. In this context, this research addresses trisomy 21 in a holistic perspective, focusing on the pharmacist's role. This includes the practice of pharmaceutical care, mainly among pharmaceutical consulting, pharmacotherapeutic follow-up and health education.
