O impacto dos maus-tratos na vida das crianças e dos jovens em situação de acolhimento

Abstract(s)
Os maus-tratos em crianças e jovens constituem um sério problema social, com consequências ao nível do seu desenvolvimento, saúde física e mental.
Este fenómeno tem acompanhado a humanidade ao longo da história, mas a mentalidade das pessoas tem vindo a mudar. Os profissionais preocupados com a infância e a juventude esforçam-se por promover percursos de vida alternativos que sejam saudáveis, dignos e adequados.
O presente projeto de graduação pretende propor um estudo sobre o impacto dos maus-tratos na vida de crianças e jovens da região Centro de Portugal. Pretendemos perceber se existe uma relação entre o historial de maus-tratos na infância e juventude, o bem-estar psicológico e o percurso escolar destas crianças e jovens.
O trabalho está estruturado da seguinte forma: primeiro, apresentamos uma abordagem da evolução histórica da problemática e uma breve definição de maus-tratos infantis e juvenis, bem como as suas diferentes tipologias, os fatores de risco para a ocorrência deste fenómeno, as consequências que dele advêm, as áreas de intervenção e o papel da criminologia na intervenção e acompanhamento de crianças e jovens em risco. Por fim, apresentamos um projeto de investigação que pretende fazer a articulação entre a teoria e a prática nesta área concreta.
The abuse and maltreatment of children and juveniles is a serious problem for society, with reflections on child development, physical and mental health. The hostility against the children and juveniles was socially accepted in the past, but today this is no longer the case. The professionals concerned with childhood and youth struggle to promote alternative pathways of life that are healthy, worthy and appropriate. In the present project of graduation we propose a study of the impact of abuse and maltreatment in the lives of children and juveniles of the Central Region of Portugal. We expected to bring some understanding about how an environment of maltreatment in childhood influences negatively the psychological well-being and the academic performance. The work is structured as follows: first, it discussed the historical evolution of the problem. Then, we present a brief definition of children and juvenile abuse and maltreatment, as well as it’s different typologies, the risk factors for the occurrence of this phenomenon, the consequences, the areas of intervention, and the contributions of criminology for the intervention and assistance of children and juveniles. Finally, we present a Project that proposes an articulation between theory and practice of the question in study.
