dc.description.abstractEste projeto titulado de “Qual a Eficácia da Polícia Judiciária no Combate ao Terrorismo,” apresenta um estudo da eficácia da Polícia Judiciária (PJ) nas suas operações contra o terrorismo em Portugal. Realizada no âmbito do curso de Criminologia para a Obtenção do Grau de Licenciatura, esta pesquisa visa não apenas avaliar o desempenho da PJ no enfrentamento de ameaças terroristas, mas também compreender os desafios operacionais e institucionais que podem influenciar a eficácia das suas intervenções. O estudo adota um foco qualitativo e quantitativo, utilizando questionários como instrumento principal de recolha de dados. Estes questionários, aplicados a 200 participantes — inspetores da PJ, especialistas em segurança pública e académicos que estudam o terrorismo e a criminalidade organizada em Portugal, permitiram recolher perceções diretas dos profissionais, assim como dos académicos, quanto aos recursos, métodos e estratégias que utilizam no combate ao terrorismo. Além da metodologia quantitativa, a abordagem qualitativa, escolhida pela sua capacidade de explorar perceções e opiniões detalhadas, facilita uma análise descritiva dos fatores que impactam as práticas e os resultados obtidos pela PJ no âmbito antiterrorismo, proporcionando uma visão integrada e aprofundada sobre o tema. Este trabalho, portanto, enriquece o campo da Criminologia ao proporcionar uma análise crítica das ações institucionais relacionadas à segurança pública e à prevenção do terrorismo. Além disso, apresenta sugestões para aprimorar a eficácia da Polícia Judiciária e otimizar suas abordagens no enfrentamento do terrorismo.por
dc.description.abstractThis project, entitled “What is the Effectiveness of the Judicial Police in Combating Terrorism?”, presents an in-depth study of the effectiveness of the Judicial Police (PJ) in its counter-terrorism operations in Portugal. Carried out as part of the Criminology course for the Degree of Licenciatura, this research aims not only to assess the performance of the PJ in tackling terrorist threats, but also to understand the operational and institutional challenges that can influence the effectiveness of its interventions. The study adopts a qualitative and quantitative approach, using questionnaires as the main data collection tool. These questionnaires, administered to 200 participants - PJ inspectors, public security specialists and academics who study terrorism and organized crime in Portugal, made it possible to gather direct perceptions from professionals, as well as academics, regarding the resources, methods and strategies they use in the fight against terrorism. In addition to the quantitative methodology, the qualitative approach, chosen for its ability to explore detailed perceptions and opinions, facilitates a descriptive analysis of the factors that impact the practices and results obtained by the PJ in the field of counter-terrorism, providing an integrated and in-depth view of the subject. This study thus contributes to the field of Criminology and to the critical evaluation of institutional practices in the field of public security and terrorism prevention, offering recommendations to strengthen the effectiveness of the Judicial Police and improve its strategies in the anti-terrorism context.eng
