| dc.description.abstract | O poliéteretercetone, mais conhecido como o PEEK, é utilizado há cerca de 40 anos em campos tão variados como a aeronáutica, a indústria automóvel e a biomedicina. No entanto, está a lutar para deixar a sua marca na medicina dentária. Este polímero termoplástico de alto desempenho tem excelentes propriedades térmicas, químicas e mecânicas. A estrutura química do polímero permite-nos compreender algumas das suas propriedades. É um excelente substituto dos metais para pacientes alérgicos ou que simplesmente não desejam ter metal na boca. O PEEK pode assim encontrar o seu lugar na concepção de prótese parcial removível. O BioHPP® de Bredent® é um PEEK modificado pela adição de uma carga cerâmica. É utilizado no confecção de estruturas de prótese parcial removíveis. A sua aplicação será ilustrada por um caso clínico apresentado por Zoidis, Papathanasiou e Polyzois em 2015. | pt_PT |
| dc.description.abstract | The Polyetheretheretherketone, better known as PEEK, has been used for some 40 years in fields as varied as aeronautics, the automotive industry and biomedicine. However, it is struggling to make its mark in dentistry. This high-performance thermoplastic polymer has excellent thermal, chemical and mechanical properties. The chemical structure of the polymer allows us to understand some of its properties. It is an excellent substitute for metals for patients who are allergic or who simply do not wish to have metal in their mouth. The PEEK can thus find its place in the design of removable partial dentures. The Bredent® BioHPP® is a PEEK modified by the addition of a ceramic charge. It is used in the fabrication of removable partial denture structures. Its application will be illustrated by a clinical case presented by Zoidis, Papathanasiou and Polyzois in 2015. | pt_PT |
