Abstract(s)

Este artigo aborda a dimensão etnográfica dos textos de Aquilino Ribeiro, um dos mais importantes escritores portugueses do século XX. Aquilino escreveu várias obras de etnografia sobre a região em que nasceu, na Beira Alta, mas a vida rural desta área constituiu também o principal referente da sua ficção. Além disso, as suas obras forma produzidas num contexto nacionalista, em que o regional e o rural eram valorizados na literatura, sendo tidos ao mesmo tempo como o testemunho de modos de ser verdadeiramente nacionais. O interesse da sua obra reside não só na sua importância para a reconstrução de modos de vida rurais na primeira metade do século XX, como também por constituir uma fonte para o conhecimento de modos de ver a nação, a região e a vida rural. The present article discusses the ethnographical dimension of the texts of Aquilino Ribeiro. This writer, one of the most important ones of Portugal, published several works on the ethnography of his birthplace in central Portugal, and his fiction is located there. Besides,he wrote in a nationalist context where the regional and the rural where highly valued in literature, being conceived at the same time as the testimony of ways of life truly nationals. The interest of his work lies not only in its importance for the reconstruction of rural ways of life in the first half of the twentieth-century, but also as a source for the knowledge of ways of seeing the nation, the region and the country life.
